On September 20, 2020, the OCWR Office of the General Counsel held a Brown Bag discussion with legal counsel from legislative branch employing offices to talk about the Federal Employee Paid Leave Act (FEPLA), FEPLA permits federal employees to substitute 12 weeks of paid parental leave for unpaid Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave in connection with either the birth of an employee’s child or for the placement of a child with an employee through adoption or foster care that occurs on or after October 1, 2020.
