OCWR Website

The following notice outlines the privacy policy of the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights (OCWR) regarding any information collected via any website owned and operated by the OCWR. The OCWR does not collect any personally identifiable information unless you choose to provide that information voluntarily. Information voluntarily provided to the OCWR will only be used for its stated purpose.

Information Collected and Stored Automatically

If you visit the OCWR’s websites, the following non-personally identifiable information may be collected and stored automatically:

The date and time of your website visit;

The pages you visit and actions taken on those pages (such as the download of a file);

The type of device used to access the website;

The web browser and operating system used to access the website;

The internet protocol (IP) address of the device accessing the website;

If applicable, the address of the website visited before an OCWR website that led you to the OCWR website;

The location (city and country) from which the website was accessed.

The OCWR collects and uses this information to improve its website design and the user experience. None of the above information identifies website visitors personally. The information is securely stored until it is no longer deemed necessary for such purposes and in accordance with internal policies for the retention and disposal of information.

“Cookies” may be used on OCWR websites to provide the OCWR web administration team with non-personally identifiable data that may help improve the user experience. Cookies are small bits of information used by websites to identify and remember specific information about a user. The OCWR uses Google Analytics to collect the non-personally identifiable information mentioned above. Google Analytics supplies aggregate data from all OCWR website users for analysis by the OCWR web administration team. The OCWR may use this aggregated data to improve the user experience on OCWR websites. All OCWR websites remain fully accessible regardless of whether a user opts out of Google Analytics.

If You Send Us Personal Information

Personally identifiable information may be required to use certain features of OCWR websites, such as submitting an electronic form. If you choose to engage with those features, the OCWR will inform you what information is required, and will only use the provided information for its stated purpose. By providing the information requested, you consent to the OCWR using the information for the stated purpose.

The OCWR may share your information with verified contractors employed by the OCWR to carry out your requests.

The OCWR will never sell, distribute, or display personal information obtained by using ocwr.gov.

The OCWR securely stores personally identifiable information until no longer deemed necessary for the stated purpose(s) and in accordance with internal policies for the retention and disposal of information.

E-mail Alerts

The OCWR maintains lists of subscribers who have elected to receive periodic e-mail updates from the OCWR. Interested parties may subscribe to OCWR e-Alerts by following the link available in the ocwr.gov footer (see “Subscribe to the OCWR”). Subscriptions to OCWR e-Alerts are managed and delivered via Constant Contact, Inc. OCWR e-Alert subscribers may unsubscribe at any time by following the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each e-mail message.

Secure Online Claims Reporting and Tracking E-filing System (SOCRATES)

The OCWR’s Secure Online Claims Reporting and Tracking E-filing System (SOCRATES) allows claimants to file claims electronically. Claimants and other parties may upload and review documents related to their claims using the SOCRATES platform. SOCRATES requires claimants to provide personally identifiable information if they choose to file a claim via electronic form. Claims and other documents and information in SOCRATES are securely stored in accordance with statutory requirements and internal policies for the retention and disposal of information.

Claimants may choose to file their claim via in-person delivery, electronic mail (e-mail), facsimile (fax), or mail (including the United States Postal Service, and express, overnight, and other expedited delivery). For more information, visit our File a Claim page.

Social Media

The following notice applies to all official OCWR social media accounts.

The OCWR may establish social media accounts with third-party service providers such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and Vimeo (third-party social media accounts) to serve as portals for information from the OCWR. However, these third-party social media accounts are not the OCWR’s official website. The official website of the OCWR is ocwr.gov.

Social Media Privacy Notice

The OCWR may use third-party social media accounts to share specific information from its official website in a different format that may be useful or interesting to users of these third-party service providers. The OCWR cannot attest to the accuracy or security of information on third-party service provider sites, however, or any other linked site other than the official OCWR website. Please be aware that the privacy protections provided by third-party service providers may not be the same as the OCWR’s privacy policy protections on its ocwr.gov domain.

OCWR webpages and documents may contain embedded content and applications hosted on its third-party social media accounts. For more details on how and when third-party service providers collect, use, and share information when users access embedded content or applications, please review their terms of service and privacy policies. The OCWR does not control the terms of service or privacy policies of third-party service providers.
